About the Community Chat Benches…

The Community Chat Bench initiative is an effort to increase opportunities for social connection, physical movement, and enjoyment of our local natural areas for older adults and people of all ages living in the greater Oxford area.

The benches are places to rest, talk, enjoy nature, and connect with others. Each bench is accompanied by a sign that provides conversation prompts. There are currently two benches to visit:

Bench 1 - on the Oxford Area Trail System (OATS) near Bonham Rd. Barkham Dog Park and the Ruder Preserve Accessible Boardwalk

Bench 2 - on the south extension of the OATS near Peffer Park

The benches are places to rest, talk, enjoy nature and connect with others. Conversation prompts are changed weekly, so you'll want to visit the benches often to see what's new.

This project was made possible for the community due to the generous support of AARP and through the collaboration of Age-Friendly Oxford, Three Valley Conservation Trust, and the City of Oxford.

There are currently two benches to visit, located on the Oxford Area TrailS System (OATS)

Bench 1: On the OATS near the Bonham Rd. Barkham Dog Park and entrance to Ruder Preserve Accessible Boardwalk

Bench 2: On the south extension of the OATS, about 0.5 miles from the Peffer Park parking lot near mile marker 4.2
